Date of ultrasound: 09 March 2002
Up to this month I seem to favor the transverse position, and I’m lying across Mom’s uterus. My kicks have gotten much stronger now, and Mom can actually see her tummy move everytime I kick. She justloves it! And yes, even Dad can feel the kicks now, I think my muscles have gotten much stronger than before.
The doctor had a hard time locating my heart because of this position, and he was a little worried that my heart size is a little bigger than average. My CRL is now 17.5 cm, BPD is 6.5 cm! As you can see, I’m now overcrowding the scope of the ultrasound!
Bad news for this month, at least for Mom: she gained 3.5 kilos in just four weeks! They’re very strict here about weight gain, and the doctor could only say, “Futochatta ne!” (You had gotten fat!). Guilty as charged, my Mom could only retort.
In the know:
The baby’s body is becoming better proportioned. Although the head still looks large in relation to the body, the legs, arms, and trunk are not as short. Fine, downy lanugo covers the baby’s entire body, including the head. Besides its wrinkled appearance, the baby’s skin also is transparent because it’s so thin. Thus, at this time, if you could see the baby, the bones, organs, and blood vessels would be visible, as they lie just beneath the skin.
The baby’s environment is becoming more crowded as it is growing and filling up the space inside the uterus.
